India recently overtook Japan to become the third largest auto market in the world right behind the US and China. Entering the ‘Top 3; list means that it is now in the limelight and at the centre stage of the automotive world. Many pundits are even touting that the Indian market has the potential to become the number 1 market in the world.
The successor of Maruti Suzuki Gypsy has finally arrived in the Indian market. The company has introduced the 5-door version of the Jimny SUV in the Indian market and has commenced bookings for the same via Nexa dealerships. The Jimny is a serious 4X4 SUV that is capable both on and off-road.
With the SUV boom in the country Maruti Suzuki seems to has played its cards right but the prices of the car haven’t been revealed yet and with its direct competitor i.e. Mahindra Thar arriving in a RWD drive version for just Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) a few days ago the pricing of the Jimny will be very crucial.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx
Maruti Suzuki introduced another crossover’ish’ SUV at the event and it is named Fronx. This seems to be the same car that the company was spotted testing in India several times and was being referred to as the Baleno cross. The bookings for the Fronx are also open and it will be retaliated via Nexa outlets.
Tata Harrier EV concept
Tata Sierra EV concept
This one screams retro and falls in line with the global trend of old cars making a comeback, like the Hummer EV, Ford Bronco etc. This one is special as the Sierra was a special SUV in the 90’s, it has an uber cool feel to it which is unlike any other SUV in the market. The Sierra was cool back then and it is cool even now. With its glass rear cabin, EV powertrain and retro looks the Sierra is in top contendership for the best car in the Auto Expo 2023. Well this is a concept but with Tata Motors one this for sure that their production models are very close to their concept cars. So something very similar to this will be offered when it makes it to production.
Tata Curvv ICE concept
Tata Motors showcased the Curvv concept first back in April 2022, now at the event the company has showcased a near production version of the car which is very similar to the concept which they showcased earlier. This is why you should believe what we earlier stated that Tata production vehicles are quite similar to their original concept vehicle. What is different here however is that the company showcased a near production internal combustion engine version of the car.
Hyundai Ioniq 5
MG Motor India had been teasing the new Hector on social media in the later half of last year and has finally launched the new Hector at Auto Expo 2023 for Rs 14.72 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hector was already a feature rich car and the company has now packaged it with even more features including the Level 2 ADAS features.
The Kia KA4 is the next gen Carnival MPV internationally, the company has unveiled the car in the country at the Auto Expo 2023. It is interesting as the company didn’t unveil this MPV as the Carnival, so we are guessing either the company is saving it for later stages when it finally launches the car in India or it might continue to sell both generations of the car alongside each other.
Toyota Land Cruiser
The Behemoth SUV, Totyota Land Cruiser has returned to the Indian shores at the Indian Auto Expo 2023. This might be plain and simple as water, but like we all know there is actually nothing really it. This is also probably the last generation of Land Cruiser SUV, as in future the same platform will only be sold under the Lexus brand and product names so that makes it even more special.
Tata Motors Avinya concept
Among the comprehensive range of products showcased by Tata Motors there was this cherry on the top, which Tata Motors is calling the Avinya concept. This has all the right ingredients to be the ultimate showstopper of Auto Expo 2023. It has got the looks and the WOW factor that you are generally looking for in a showstopper. It was also the global debut of the Avinya concept which is based on gen 3 architecture of Tata Motors, that encompasses roominess, new age tech and AI. It also has an aroma diffuser/humidifier. Tata Motors has stated that it will be fairly accessible and will be introduced by the end of 2024.
